MARINE EMERGENCY SUPPORT ("MES")
Have you ever wanted to sail your own boat across the channel? Or even just away from your home port? But have always worried what would happen if you suffer a breakdown or other crisis.
Marine Emergency Support cover will enable you to sail far from your normal mooring, safe in the knowledge that if you suffer a mechanical breakdown, help can be found.
MES is a 24-hour service helping you get back on course. By telephoning the claims line, agents for the insurer will act as crisis co-ordinators contacting family members to keep them informed, liaising with doctors both at home and abroad, and arranging travel for you.
MES will reimburse up to £150 (including VAT) towards engineer's fees. If you cannot locate a suitable repairer, MES will endeavour to assist you. If the claim is within the UK, dealers can be found for most engines. MES also have a database for engineers and repairers throughout the UK and Europe.
In the event that your vessel becomes unhabitable the policy will arrange for transport of those aboard to their home country and reimburse up to £300 per person (to a maximum of £3,000) towards the travel costs incurred in getting you home.
Further, if you lose your money or credit cards MES will assist you in arranging emergency facilities. They can even purchase personal items up to £60 per insured person (to a maximum of £300). This is subject to satisfactory security being arranged.
At the excellent price of £30.00 per year, including Insurance Premium Tax, this represents amazing value for money.

MARINE LEGAL COVER
The legal expenses cover we offer will enable you to pursue civil claims against liable third parties, for damage to your vessel following collision, impact, fire and flooding. If you, or anyone else aboard at the time of the accident is injured, there is cover to pursue a claim for compensation against those responsible for causing the accident.
In cases where you have been sold defective goods the cover will also enable you to pursue the retailer in respect of these goods. And in the unlikely event that you are required to defend criminal prosecutions arising out of the navigation of the vessel, the cover will provide you with the costs of a defence, providing a defence or plea in mitigation (where there is a prospect of any plea reducing the penalty) exists.
All this for just £10.50 including Insurance Premium Tax.
INLAND WATERWAYS BREAKDOWN ASSISTANCE ("IWBA")
Engine or gearbox failure can be a serious and expensive issue and will not be covered under a normal marine insurance policy. At Nationwide Marine we can offer an outstanding cover enhancement which will alleviate all your worries should your craft suffer a breakdown.
IWBA is a 24-hour service that will help you get back on track. By telephoning the claims line agents for the insurer will act as crisis co-ordinators, contacting family members and letting them know what has happened.
They will find suitable repairers or engineers for you. The policy will reimburse up to £250 (including VAT) towards labour costs, towing or call out charges. If necessary they can also contact marine engine dealers, and help to find any parts that may be required.
And in the event that your vessel cannot be repaired within 4 hours following a breakdown, and you have to abandon it away from your normal mooring, transport will be arranged to your home or elsewhere in the UK. The policy will reimburse you up to £150 (including VAT) towards these costs.
